Roof/ ceiling shudder possible pressure wave

Race back from work but Sod's law had it I missed the last bus. Typical. Got some pics though and it did seem very windy up there. No sign of any movement but as I say didn't manage to catch any busses. Does it look like there is enough support for the rafters etc?

Thanks

Hi @Jamie3019

How did you managed to resolve this in the end? I have exactly the same issues with creaking / popping sounds from the bedroom ceiling just below the loft space when heavy vehicles (buses / lorries) pass in front of the house on a B road.

Loft hatch moving ?
The hatch is tightly secure when closed so definitely not that. The cracking/ creaking/popping noise definitely comes from ceiling under the loft floor. It seems like the roof structure shudders / slightly wobbles with passing buses pressure / air build up.

lol… anyone else can shed some light please. In fact I noticed today it’s not necessarily only large heavy vehicles (buses/lories) but also many times a stream of traffic (cars/van) going at pace causing similar creaking / cracking / popping noises from the bedroom ceiling under loft.

I cannot feel any obvious movement of the house when this happens. It seems as though minor vibrations/frequency is getting transmitted from road to house and travelling to roof area causing a sudden jolt to the loft floor area. I have asked for a roof guy to come and have a look. Let me know if any other thoughts.

So far I have tried to loft hatch and check, noise problem still happens with it fully open. I went up in the loft couple of times but couldn’t hear anything from in there (either it’s not audible from there due to insulation in loft floor area or it didn’t happen whilst I was up there or didn’t happen as I was standing on the temp floor boards in the loft putting pressure on the ceiling joists directly below the area noise usually comes from. I’ll keep looking.

Anyone?

Doing some further online research, it seems like what is happening in my case is low frequency sound from passing heavy traffic is being transmitted to our house via ground. This then
