I am using a rubber roof for a lean to shed, going against the house wall. I’m wondering how I should finish the ends.

I’ve come across this:

I will have the roof over hanging on the side by 50mm. Is this extra patch necessary or can I fold the rubber in a way that this is watertight?

I will also be using a metal flashing.

Thanks in advance.

I would fix a strip of plywood 100mm wide with a chamfer on one long edge to the wall along where the shed roof abuts.

Then glue the EPDM onto the lean to roof, and go up the upstand and trim it

Then dress lead flashing down over it

The plywood creates a nice flat surface so the EPDM adheres well and the lead will dress over nice n flat.

Can you explain this part please.

Also, how do I handle the rubber roof folds? In the video, the chap is using some extra tape for these. Is there a way to dispense of this and fold the rubber roof to get the watertight fit in these corners?

Have you got a picture of the area you are talking about? The wall flashing trim is fine

The horizontal line is where the roof is going and the vertical line is the side of this shed.

I want to understand how I fold the rubber roof at the ends.

You can't fold the ends. You have to cut the rubber and use the flexi flashing in the video.

Below is my roof. I would be more concerned with all the drain pipes. The more detail you have the more complicated is rubber. Have you looked at fiberglass?

That image is very helpful.
Can I buy those bits of tape in the right size and shape or do they have to be cut to size?

I’ve purchased some retrofit rubber boots for the vertical pipes. Some of them will be enclosed within the lean to shed.

You could have rejigged that soil pipe arrangement so most of it was all above your shed.

Yes, probably but decided against it. Probably created more work by doing it this way!
I can do the shed project over a number of weeks as I only have the evenings to work on this and it would have been stressful to take out the bathrooms by moving the soil pipes around.

You just need one of these for each side: https://www.rubber4roofs.co.uk/external-corner-patch and some primer.
Thanks for this @muh3. I actually need some of this for where I am going to cut the rubber roof to fit around the pipe. The rubber boot will go around the pipe but there may be a slit at the back that needs some of this tape. I assume this is appropriate for that?

Also, elsewhere in the house, I have a valley which is lined with rubber and as it gets to the point where water falls on to my garage roof, there is some led that is squeezed under the rubber to provide a spout. The detail on this is dreadful and it is causing water to seep through. I can share photos when I am next up there. At some point I need to cut back some of this rubber and tidy up the spout detail. Can this tape and primer be used for joining led and rubber too?

Thanks again.

You can even use that tape instead of a boot, you can also buy it by the meter and you can use it to repair any cuts rubber to rubber. I'm not sure if it can be used with led. It might worth dropping rubber4roof an email to see what they suggest. But also as cdbe has said you might be able to higher the waste pipe one side and have the roof under it. It is probably not much work for a plumber to do that. I would at least consider it.

I will order a metre of this based on our advice @muh3

I've ordered these for the soil pipes: https://www.plumbingsuperstore.co.u...ipe-flashing-for-metal-roofs-350mm-750mm.html

I am struggling to find one for the square downpipe. Perhaps I can just use the tape for that?
Do I need a couple of layers or is one good enough in your experience?

Thanks again.
