Tip - cut across the end of a piece of bent 15mm pipe to give you something to push against the wings with.

There are many different types of do-nut seal, all different thicknesses. I'd put the old one back in the same position and try that first.

Plate/bolt kits are widely available

good idea-i'll try the original donut washer but if it does need replacing then i'll take it down my local plumbers merchants and get a like-for-like replacement!
