Hi
My fathers property in cumbria was partially flooded in his basemnet and united utilities have turned the electrics off to the whole row of houses and are going round removing all the company fuses. They have said that they will not reconnect anyone until the electrics have been certified as safe by an electrician (which I understand).
However because of the way the property is wired from the basement only the company fuse meter and the economy 7 time switch got wet as well as a short length of the metre tails. All our side of the service head (The consumer unit and all the wiring and sockets remained dry), and the electricity never went off during the flood despite the wet meter.
Will I need to get a full wiring certificate for the whole house or can electricans issue a check sheet to say that the system is safe to re-connect, (as basically nothing happened to it on our side of the metre).
