Hi all,

What are these boards called that are sagging/falling off in the photo? Sarking boards?

It's been pretty damp in my loft previously which has caused it, the house is 40 years old but I just moved in last year. The chipboard sheets have dried out all bent now, so I don't think I'd be able to force them back up without them breaking.

Can they be replaced from the loft? Or would the roof need to be stripped back for that?

I was wondering if I could slot in slightly narrower boards then put battons on the rafters to support them?

Any advice appreciated!

Cheers

Hi Iain, out of curiosity - did you find a solution to this? I am also in Aberdeen and have found this issue in my home.

Hi mate, i was told i could remove it if i want (and/or put some new boards up with battons. It does serve as a bit of insulation from the elements so maybe is worth doing. Ultimately, i had some water coming in which had caused the boards to sag over he years.

Cheers

Ah I see. Did you remove the boards before finding that water was coming in? If so, did you find it easy enough to do? I have not had a proper look yet to see where it is fixed in etc.
