Screw sizes

The goldscrews, turbogold etc use metric sizes - the first number is the diameter of the shank, the second the length. These are typically single threaded

The Quicksilver use the imperial sizes where the first number is the size of the head and the second the length in inches. This type of screw is normall double threaded

Those Goldscrews are not brass, you know.

stainless is stronger than brass

Brass is weak and soft, you will probably break some of the screws driving them in, or their heads might tear off in high winds, and you will probably damage the heads with your screwdriver.

Hi,
I need brass screws to use with metclips for fencing panels, I've measured the screws I need and it's 3cm, I've looked on screwfix for them, but i can't understand the sizes, example: "3x 12mm" 3x 16mm"

any idea what screws are 3cm?

Thanks

the first thing you need to realise is 3cm dosnt excist in the measurments of screws or building material 30mm does

in general you have imperial or metric screws so the imperial sizes refer to inches for length an no4/6/7/8/10/12 as the shank size
metric are 3/3.5/4/4.5/5/6 for shank size and mm for length

with aproximate comparason 3mm metric =4 imp/ 3.5=6/4=7/ 4.5=8/ 5= 10 6mm=12 imperial

and as said above the screws you require are not brass luckily for you ;) :D

Metclips? the U shaped brackets that panels slot into? Just use 30-40mm galvy clouts.
