Screwfix date on products.

Just been using products from various SF outlets and I am wondering what the date stamp on these products means ?.

ie on a ready mixed grout 20/02/16

ie silicone sealant 16/6/16

Both of the above purchased last week,is the date a sell by date or best before date ?.

Although the above products have proved to be very good and reasonably priced,i think they will not last long when opened.

Any sensible ideas ?. Not here to slag off SF I have found them very helpful with decent products for over 15 years but just want to know about the dates.

Its a use by date, I was told when buying silicone.

The date may also be used in quality control material tracking as it will identify the date the material was made ( by substracting a number of days from the printed date )
