My opinion of Gas Fitters is well documented I just laugh @ those who think they know more than they do, and by the same token there are those here that know a lot more than I do. I`m just here for the craic. As to silicones , the right ones for a particular job are extremely strong - I would have used the silicone and put a couple of short ( dummy) screws in the pan fixing holes I used to do this when bedding pans down on concrete , with sand/cement - in the days before sds drills when you couldn`t just pop a hole in concrete. Never have been Gas registered - stopped as soon as it became mandatory .Just an Old Skool plumber
Nigel,100% in agreement with you,I have bedded pans on everything.The art is to get the pan completely flat and pump in the required fixer and leave to set. Enuff said I can get get my pans out without an cracking.Its called skill.

As it happens, I think he is wrong on that, but I wouldn't have commented, because i am not a plumber and don't do bathrooms etc.
I have got things wrong, (normally due to either not reading the preceding posts correctly, or posting after having consumed too many fine ales at our local village hostelry), and have asked for forgiveness a few times.
