seatbelt/airbag warning indicator bmw2006 1 series

A bottle of water has leaked that was in the passenger seat and soaked the bottom left of the passenger seat. when i got home thought nothing of it but on return to the car the airbag/seatbelt retention malfunction indicator has come on on the dash. is it a case of leave it to dry out and get it reset or can it be more serious?????

check under the seat, water may have leaked into the wiring connectors
it may correct itself if dried out, if it doesnt then its going to need code reading to identify the problem
