Second opinion Myson Apollo 40

chill man we do it to each other as well :)

grey button gas valve solenoid costs app £10 less than the full valve

not a diy job you need a corgi

btw get the hook out / be happy

Thanks Kev, sorry, my misunderstanding.
I agree I will need to get a Corgi guy to fit the gas valve but I was trying to pin it down to that before I did. No offence but I have been ripped off in the past by a Corgi engineer and don't fancy being ripped off again. (long story)
So are you guys saying that it does sound like the gas valve has gone?

if you take the light grey cover off the valve you will see the wiring if you have got 230 there when the boiler is trying to light the valve has gone to that big boiler in the sky :)

Now come on Kev I am sure I said in my original post that I checked the gas valve and was getting 240V which indicated to me that the gas valve had gone and thats why I was looking for a second opinion. So you agree with me that the gas valve has indeed gone. Now if you would have just said that in the beginning it would of saved me getting my hook in and getting myself upset. Thank you anyway for your kind help and opinion. I will have a Corgi engineer replace the valve very soon and will put the old one in a hole in my back garden with a headstone saying "here lyith my gas valve RIP'

make sure the button is coming out far enough. if it's stuck in a little then it won't allow the burner to fire.

Funny you should say that, I did try this but as soon as the button comes out the pilot goes out. I re-ignite the pilot and the same thing happens. If i just release the button after igniting, the pilot stays on, but if i pull it out the pilot goes out.

daft thought but only a couple of quid try changing the thermocouple (weargas is going to love this) :)

to be fair if the valve is sticking it needs replacing anyway

I have already done this, replaced the thermocouple.

cheers for the thoughts Kevplumb. I think my initial thoughts are right and the gas valve will have to go. Will keep you posted.
What would you say is a reasonable price for this to be supplied and fitted by a Corgi engineer? i live in the NW

Last gas valve I had doing similar took about 3 mins to mend...
