Perhaps I shouldn't comment on this case as I never saw the documentary when it aired but surely it raises concern as to the regulation of the NHS?

As I say, I never saw the show so I cannot comment on whether the woman failed to "follow her obligations as a nurse" but I think it sends out all the wrong signals. After all, a proportion of us will one day be old and in need of care. God help us!

Am I mistaken in thinking that the law was changed to protect whistleblowers?

This looks like a vindictive and unprincipled act of revenge, rather than a considered professional judgement.

So she should be struck off, while filming what exactly was she doing to alleviate the suffering she was reporting?
Betrayal of trust to her employers, and dereliction of duty to the patients, or is this being too simplistic?
First duty, care for the patients, then complain, lead by example.

Exactly, done to dissuade others from exposing the pitiful care given to the elderly.

Welcome to Socialist Britain.

Err, perhaps she was hoping that by helping to bring it into the public domain the health authority may be forced to to do something about it.

It's disgraceful; apparently she didn’t follow the agreed “whistle blowers” procedure which involves blowing the whistle up your immediate management tree which almost certainly would have meant that absolutely nothing would happen & I’m still not convinced it will.

God help us all when we get old; I think I’ll start saving the pills now

You are an idiot  . Not that I don't agree with your poorly written response, because I do. The problem is you undermine your point by typing poorly written and offensive posts. If you want to win the debate, wise up!

Taken entirley out of context, but if you want to argue in that manner, thats up to you, but please don't fetch it down to a personal level, by calling me rude names,

If you see a crime it is your duty to report it to the authorities.
The authorities, (in this case the NHS), know this kind of thing goes on yet do nothing about it!
She should be promoted to a position where she can carry on the work of exposing these so called carers not dismissed.

Blas,

leaf it out will you!

Just a bit of light hearted relief, no offence meant.

They should go back to the old regime, ward sisters and a Matron, instead of office wallah's
