Self-cutting tap is leaking

the easiest way to drain the water
is to cut the pipe
then do the job properly and fit a drain valve
FFS why do we bother

Perhaps instead of giving this high and mighty attitude, you might try to understand that not all of us professionals who've had formal training or on the job experience, that some of us are DIYers who are starting out and might ask (what seems to you to be) stupid questions. Rather than giving out contempt and vague instructions it might be more helpful to give helpful clear instructions (i.e. if I cut the pipe, won't the remaining water in the system come gushing out?).

As I understand it, this is a DIY forum, rather than for the exclusive use of tradespersons. If I've got this wrong, please do enlighten me and I'll be sure to bugger off elsewhere immediately.

I myself cant understand why a person doing diy suddenly thinks I haven't got a drain off....must fit one.. Is there a reason and if there is what are you expecting to do given limited knowledge sorry not being clever just wondering why

How these guys expect u cut in a tee if you don't have a drain cock I don't know. I guess try didn't read the whole post

When you've been at it a bit longer, you will find there are more ways to drain CH, rather than just through a drain cock.

in my experience, when you use an old drain off, it usually leaks afterwards anyway. we always shut a radiator off, take it off & drain it from the valve, OR as kev says, if theres a void under the floor, just cut into it below the boards & let the water drain into the abyss below lol
