I'm selling my Golf soon and thought of using EBay - except the page with the sellers fees for motors wont display properly (tried 2pcs with 4 different browsers) so I have no idea of the costs.

Anyone able to give me a rough idea of prices?

8% up to a maximum of £75.00 is what I gleaned. I buy and sell my cars via ebay, all well so far.

Classified ad is £14.99 with no final fees, auction style is £10 listing and 1% final selling price (min £25 max £35)
Sometimes works out cheaper to do a classified ad if you know your price and i think it runs for a longer period.

.. but if you really want to sell it, auction is the way to go. Its no good advertising it for what you think it's worth, it will sell for what someone is prepared to pay. You can put in a fixed price with offers though.

Also remember you get charged for ending a listing early, I don't know the costs but some people I know were not to happy about it.

I stopped using Ebay some time ago for selling, it's full of scum waiting to scam you and Ebay are no help at all.

Yep the page is working properly now, but thanks for the info :)

It's difficult to price my Golf as there are ones advertised with 50% more miles on the clock and less standard equipment (Mine as the multifunction steering wheel many lack and the sunroof which is very rare on a car with AC) at £2900 and the odd one with the same milage and similar spec (sans sunroof) at £4000

I was going to front it for £3250 ono on a classified ad. Using an Auction format would cost me an extra £40+ and I doubt it'd sell for more than £3500.

Depends whether you are in a hurry to sell it or not, you may get more if you are prepared to wait but ebay gives you a fair price for a quick sale.

What you have to look at is not what they are asking but what they are selling for - that's the instant market price.

I buy my cars from them because I get them cheaper but only because they need attention and I can give it.

Mightn't be the best place to sell a top end, Golf.
In my experience, the punters on E-Bay don't rate multifunction steering wheels, high up the priority list. Most just ask has it MOT, is it running and how much.

You could be right - if I'm anything to go by. :D You can of course put a reserve on.

Peter, I'm exactly the same, the simpler the better as the car gets older
