You said you had virgin for phone, but have you got sky tv? broadband from them is anywhere from free (yes FREE! limited download), a fiver a month up to 10er a month.

Other option is to get a pay as you go broadband modem from three, no phoneline required.

Some mobile phone companies are now offering USB sticks for customers which have built in wireless modems so they work like a mobile phone but connect a laptop to the internet.

I think they come with a fairly hefty monthly contract though.

Have you a starbucks or mcdonalds nearby, you can pick up there connection free.

Up london, sometimes you see foreign tourists of a night , outside using there laptops.

If any hotels or pubs nearby, you can also pick theres up, but you may have to buy an access card from them first.

Do you have or know someone with a phone or laptop, if they scan from your house, you can maybe see what is available , and what is unsecured.
