I have a shaver socket in my bathroom smack bang in the middle of my wall above the basin. I want to move it higher out of the way so i can hang a mirror over it instead. Is this ok to do? Also i have an electric toothbrush with a seperate holder for charging which has a two pin plug on it, can i charge it from this socket or is it used only for a shaving appliance?, if so i will never use this socket so will want to get rid of it but dont want to leave live wires behind the wall. Any ideas please?

take it out, buy an adaptor for tooth brush and plug in elsewhere.

turn mains off, follow cable to its scoure and dissconect it, switch mains back on

this is true but I figured that as he wants to move it UP the tooth brush cable will be too short (its always the way)

if the shaver socket is fed from the bathroom lighting circuit (which is quite usual) then the cable is probably chased into the wall above the socket running towards the ceiling (take the socket off and see which way the cable enters from).

in this case it could easily be re-connected higher on the wall, just open up the wall where you want the socket to be and hope you find (but don't damage) the supply cable.

It can be quite useful to have a shaver socket in a bathroom even if (like me) you don't use it yourself, guests or future occupiers may appreciate it.
