Hello. I currently have armoured cable going into my shed outside, and this is wired to an old style fuse box (the ones where you replace the wire yourself) and this is wired to a round junction box.
I have extension sockets plugged into extension sockets (I know, I know, not safe thats why im here) running a shed tube heater, grinder, scroll saw, and a few more items. I need this all safer and tidied up a bit so I have just purchased this -> Garage Consumer Unit with 63a/30mA RCD & 1x16amp & 6amp MCB's IP55 for the shed.
My question is how do I wire one tube light, one switch and several sockets off of this?
I have attached an image which I am hoping is close to what I am after

Connect the light to the 6A MCB and the sockets to the 16A MCB.

Is there an RCD in the main consimer unit in the house?

What is that picture supposed to show, is that your house at the moment, or what you would like to have, or what???

Your armoured cable, how does this connect to the supply at the house?

Its something I would like to have. The armoured cable runs from my kitchen to the shed. An electrician fitted an extractor fan for us and over time this was not used. So I ran cable through the wall into a small junction box and changed to armoured cable to get to the shed.

Thank you. Yes there is an RCD in the main consumer unit in the kitchen. I will get some photos soon. How many sockets can I wire up to the 16A MCB? Do they need to be in a ring?

As many as you want, but the maximum total current will still be 16A.

Do they need to be in a ring?
No.

An extractor would typically be wired to a 3A FCU or a 6A lighting circuit. Either way, that is totally unsuitable for sockets in a shed - so how and what is this armoured cable actually connected to?

You do not need the RCD in the shed if you have one in the house.
You probably don't need the consumer unit in the shed at all.
Other considerations are the size, type and length of the armoured cable and how it has been installed.

I installed the armoured cable myself to the shed. I will get some photos and post them as im unable to remember right now. Thanks for replying

Ok, but what I need to know is how does it connect to the house supply electrically? Is it fed through a fused connection unit from a ring final circuit in the kitchen? If so, what size fuse is in the FCU?
If the maximum current is limited by a 13A fuse then that will be the max current that you can pull in the shed = one socket's worth. And as said above, you won't need that consumer unit in the shed.

There are so many variables and possibilities, we really could do with pictures of the SWA, any junction boxes and where the SWA connects to the house wiring.

If your CU is in the kitchen and the unit allows it, you could fit a dedicated circuit for the shed.

Also, what csa is the SWA?

Im sorry, i dont understand abbreviations. What is csa and swa??

Ok photos incoming from where I get the power to where it goes

OK, so the max fuse you can put in the FCU is 13amp, so that is the most you will be able to pull from the circuits in the shed at any one time.
You already have an RCD protecting the circuit, so I suggest you take the shed consumer unit back to the shop as it is pointless.

I'll post a drawing of what you need to do in the shed in a minute.

A comment on your termination of teh armoured cable. That is not terminated properly. You should use a proper gland at each end, also I rather suspect that the armour has not been earthed. That is the whole point of the armour, if it aint earthed it isn't going to protect you electrically. the idea is that, should you stick a fork in the cable, the spike will hit the earthed armour before it sticks into the 240volts, so the fuse will blow, instead of it blowing you.

So that's another job then...

The shot in the shed with the white junction box is wired as follows. White cable coming out is to a six socket extension, one grey cable going to shed light, the other going to the shed light switch. The short grey cable is obviously feeding power from the aged fused unit I have in the shed
