Have it neutured.
Tattooed
Chipped
Third party insurance
Muzzled in public.
You can then get an exemption certificate.
DEFRA are an absolute joke.
Are you sure it says that that's what should happen to the dog and not the owner?

That's after the dog has been seized, and judged on it's type and temperament by the Police. Then ultimately it's up to the court whether you can keep the dog or not.

You can buy a Pit bull and apply for an exemption certificate, you don't have to have the dog seized to do this.
The 'banned' description is confusing. How can you describe a dog as banned in the UK and illegal to own and then say " but it's OK if you get caught with one as long as you follow these simple steps?
A bit like saying you are banned from driving because you were caught over the legal alcohol level,........but we'll let you drive if you promise not to drive after having a drink.

A recent study carried out on 6,000 dogs and their owners found out 33 of the most aggressive dogs, and also those which have good temperaments. The study involved collecting data from two different groups. The first group consisted of 11 different breeds and the second was an online survey mainly involving owners, including 33 breeds. The conclusions from both groups were similar. It looked at the different types of aggression such as towards other dogs, towards strangers and towards owners. Some of the results were surprising, below are the top ten most aggressive breed:

It's a tough one. There's no avoiding the fact some dogs have been bred with the aim of making them as aggressive and efficient at killing things as they possibly can be. At the same time any dog has the potential to be fully domesticated with the correct training by and assertive and fully able owner. I don't know about banning certain breeds but I do agree some should require a license to show that the owner is responsible enough to handle 17 kg of pure muscle and teeth.
As I have always maintained: poor owners.
Exactly the same outcome with children. I wonder whether there should be a system of training and testing prior to being allowed to have children.
