So plan to see if I can get the temp down without blending valve first. I've already noticed that when the cylinder has finished heating up and so is 70/75 degrees, the stat clicks at around 55. So that has made me think that the stat is in fact working but the HW 2port MV is leaking water through it when the heating is on. That might also explain why this is worse in the winter when the heating is on more!
The current valve is a 22mm ZA5/ZA6 but it seems odd that it can turn the electrics off but then remain partially open? Anyway, I've decided to replace with a Honeywell which is on its way. In the fast I've had loads of issues with those Draytons. I'm also thinking to fit the new one to the return rather than the flow so maybe it will last longer?
Anyway, please do let me know if I'm doing the wrong things here. And once more thanks again so much for the high quality advice received on this thread!
Oh one last thing. Does it matter which way the flow/return is plumbed into the cylinder? I think the flow is currently going into the top of coil and return coming out the bottom. I would have thought better the other way round but if it doesn't make too much different would rather not have to add that swap to the list of tasks !
