Shower options

Hi people
The shower in my house is pathetic at best you have to run around to get wet in the winter months the flow is that poor
Its an electric 8kw mira shower.
What are my options to replace this as we went to center parcs recently and the wife fell in love with there massive shower heads that feel like your in a downpour!!
Are newer electric showers any better?
Would I be better getting a shower that attaches to my combi somehow?
Any advice or reccomendations are appreciated.

For use in place of my existing electric shower and would it matter that my taps are at the other end of my bath to the existing shower?
How much do you think a plumber would charge me to swap them if it is doable?

Electric showers are usually crap, but the higher the kilowatt the better the performance, power showers are the business, I have one with pump in loft it`s awesome, but i don`t have a rubbish combi cos combi`s are a waste of time.Don`t get a thermostatic ,it will be worse than your electric shower probably. Buy the highest kilowatt pumped electric shower possible but remember anything over 8 kilowatts requires a 10mm electrical cable !! don`t just fit it it without advice from a qualified electrician.

Ignore that , you can't have a pumped shower if you haven't got a hot water cylinder.
The highest kw instant electric shower you can buy will be less than half as powerful as the smallest combi.
But if you want a shower like the centre parks one be prepared to spend an awful lot of money.

I have a Mira thermostatic mixer connected to a 32kW combi - the flow rate is far, far better than any electric shower. With the head on the 'needle' spray it actually hurts!

I did some tests earlier in the year - I'm getting a flow of 13 l/min (in the USA new showers are limited to 7.5 l/min to save water) with a temperature rise of 29 degrees C. You'd need an awfully big electric shower (32kW I guess!) to get this performance.

Only downside (as always with a combi) is if someone else uses the hot water it slows to a trickle

As for costs, I had it supplied and fitted in 2010 for £220.
