Shower screen leaks at the hinge

Morning all!

I'm having a nightmare with out hinged shower screeen. When the family showers, the water is pooling in the corners of the bath.

The problem is that it leaks water at the hinge, as there is a gap, between the shower sweep and the small metal block. This in turn is leaking water onto the floor which is making its way under the skirting boards.

It's a new build. The contractor put a wooden bath panel on there which has blown, as the water from the hinge has made its way into the panel. We bought a plastic bath panel, but the water now makes its ways inside that and onto the wooden flooring under the bath.

I reckon i'm not the only one with this issue. Hence i've uploaded a photo from the internet which is exactly our problem.

cheers all.

Paul.

Is there a gap under the seal? The one in photo has the seal trapped by the block lifting it away from bath .
The lower edge of the seal should oversail and extend inside around the hinge preventing it reaching the gap .

I've posted some actual photo's of my actual screen hinge. Is seems that the small metal block is at fault as the gap between that, the seal and the post is what leaks water. Me and the wife don't actually use the bathroom as we have an ensuite, but the 2 boys have been using it and we wondered why the landing carpet was wet. :(

I've googled the $£!t out of it and it would seem there are loads of posted issues but no actual remedy.

My initial thought is to buy a fixed or folding shower screen and not a hinged one.

Thoughts?

Your door seal needs replacing , limescale is going to encourage leaks.
It should not stop at the hinge but run inside to protect it .
Looks like yours was mounted upside down?
