Side gate

I'd be grateful for your advice regarding how much clearance should be left between the gate and the post to allow for expansion/contraction. It is made of treated pine timber

5mm each side should be adequate. Make sure any cut faces/edges are thoroughly treated with a suitable preservative. This includes top and bottom and any hinges recesses.
