So was doing a quick job with some 3 core 1.5mm² rubber flex cable and noticed that the colour of the cores inside were silver.
I measured the resistance of 1 meter of one of the cores to 0.01Ω indicating that it is copper (0.012Ω for 1.5mm² copper flex per meter IIRC), and I confirmed that when it put a but under a flame to burn the silver coloured plating/coating off to reveal the copper.
My question now is, what is the material of the silver coloured plating (Nickel, silver, etc...) and is it purpose to make the cores moisture resistant?
