If any adjustment (fraction of a degree stuff) is needed a sharp block plane is a very handy tool to own. I have sometimes wished that some of the young lads we have coming to us would realise this rather than making cut after cut and still being unable to get it right. To put this in perspective, if your corner angle is 1° too large (or 0.5° on each piece) and your piece of skirting is 1500mm long, it will be jacked off the wall about 26mm at the point furthest from the mitre joint - 0.5° (or 0.25° each side - far smaller than you can actually see on any mitre saw scale) and it will still be pushed 13mm off the wall at the furthest point.
