Can you tell how far the flat roof material extends vertically up the roof, or if there is an eaves slate in place? Someone appears to have dropped a bucket of mortar on the roof and made a mess trying to clean it up.

you can see setup from pic.
the leak is in the flat roof.
the waterscomin from slate roof u can see that from inside theloft.
am not removing any slates.
have found a foam spray they say will do the job of sealing the slates from the inside.
Soudafoam 2K.

Spray foam is not the answer and will merely mask the problem and cause more problems long term, as previously asked, what is that mortar mashup doing? If there's nothing obviously wrong it's probably a sign that the roof is nearing the end of it's lifespan.

Foam spray on a roof causes severe damage and devalues your home.

Sadly many gullible people, often elderly, are tricked into buying it, and their houses are difficult to mortgage or sell until it is stripped out at great expense. Or they accept a low cash offer.

Asbestos slate will ok porous as they get old.
Sealing bonds and bottoms as in the picture will only add to the problem. New roof required

Terrible picture quality but it looks like at least 3 slates in the centre are cracked. What's with all the gear that looks like it's sealing the perps around them? Slate roofs don't leak because of water running off the side of one slate at the perp and onto the face of the slate below it

Does look a bit of a mess; never thought I'd say Acrypoling an entire roof would make it look better but am prepared to revise that opinion!
