Mick and Elton don't need 200 quid from the tax payers.

Depends if they are highly dependent on care not funded by the state.

I still think it's too early to slam Labour on this. The Tories had years and achieved feck all. Ok, if we get 12+ months down the line and the boats are still landing, then we can start to question Labour's performance.

I've said numerous times in other threads, regardless of the actual impact these numbers of migrants are having on our services etc, it's the optics that don't look good. To me, government should have thrown £££ at multiple coastal patrol vessels, built (clean, basic, safe) holding accommodation e.g. on disused airbase to hold these people while their claims are being processed, with many more agents employed to process said claims.

The whole thing is a complete mess, regardless of whether you hold the view these people should/shouldn't be coming in.

But logic isn't as good as headlines

Could there be a more pointless post.
The thing is, I reckon almost all negative stuff against Labour (in terms of what they've done since gaining power) is pointless. It's almost laughable to see Tories on tv progs slating them when they're 5 mins in the job.

How many analogies do we want? It would be like someone tasked with maintaining a grand mansion and grounds for 14 years and doing diddly squat in terms of positive maintenance. Then someone else getting the job and a few weeks in people saying 'why haven't you fixed this yet, why haven't you fixed that yet?!?'

Farce.

Pensioners may benefit with the rise in wages, 14% for train drivers will be good for the triple lock, but then maybe inflation will soar, and that will be a bigger increase. I know the 14% is just one wage rise, but it has set a precedent, expect more hands held out soon. Pensioners may have something to thank Kier Stalin for after all.
