Just been mooching around in my garden while the dogs having her pre-bed wee wee and I evicted about a dozen snails - 4 big 'uns and 8 teenagers. I also caught 3 worms before they could bolt into their holes and put them in the soil in my herb planter. Helps drainage. Gotta be quick and firm though - grab 'em at the point where they are halfway out of the grass and then it’s a slow tug of war. Keep the steady pressure on and they tire, relax, give up and come out. Pull too hard or too quick and you rip 'em clean in half.

Couldn't do it. Don't like slugs don't mind snails..
They'll spend the night in a Co op bag. Then a new life down the meadow or the brook in the morning.

Frogs/toads are much better. Hedgehogs don't eat as many snails/slugs as people think - and it's a good job too. They carry lungworm which kills hedgehogs
Been feeding hedgehogs proper food in the garden for a few years and I've seen them eat around a slug that was sitting on their food. I get the feeling that they only eat them when nothing else is available..
I heard a horrible crunching/sucking sound once in my side alley one night. When I got a torch and investigated, it was a hedgehog tucking in to a snail.
I tried to get a hedgehog a few years ago, I found a hedgehog society and gave them a call. But because my garden had brick walls, I wasn't allowed one with 4 legs , they said I could only have one with 3 legs. They said a hedgehog needs 3 gardens to roam in........I didn't bother in the end.

my wife once kicked one in her open toe shoes, we were heading out for a meal and she went round the side of the house, in the twighlight she thouht it was the dogs football on the path, she tried to kick it onto the grass - the hedgehog was fine, the wife made some very strange noises and with blood coming out of her toes, it was back in the house for a one hour refit, quite funny apart it was cutting into lager supping time.
The wife’s friend ran out to her car once, barefoot, to get her cigarettes and trod on one. Had to go to hospital.
