Soil Stack in the loft

I recently had a single story extension and the roofer helped me out by removing an old rusty external pipe on my soil stack on the main roof, I asked him to replace it with a new one but he as in fact cut it off inside the loft, attached is a 4" black flexi duct and it appears to be capped off with something. I asked if this was OK as I thought these had to be vented above the roof line, he said regs changed and before I had a chance to look it up he had gone. Have I been done? !

Is it an AAV? You can fit those inside the loft, got a photo?

I don't however I just googled it and it looks the same, its pressed up against the underside of the roof ridge within the felt could it be vented within the tiles?

It could be vented through the ridge.

Does it go through the roof then? Is there a vent tile on the outside? A picture is worth a thousand words .....

Defiantly nothing on the roof its all tiled over.. I will get an image this eve. thank you
