Resilient bars separate the plasterboard from the frame and reduce the pathway for sound waves. The more separation you can get the better. You won't stop all sound with this method, what you are doing here is stopping as much as you can to make what's left bearable. Ask yourself, why would you do all that work and then leave out a step that is cheap and simple and adds benefit?
Hi JohnnyF. Would be great to get an update from you on how this all went and whether you see a significant reduction in noise levels. Did you decide to use the resilient bars? I'm in a very similar position and currently working through the options.
