Soundproofing semi: Opinions?

Thanks for more helpful suggestions Was wondering about the acoustic effectiveness of expanding foam - looks like I'll have to add cutting bricks to my list of skills to be learnt

Will definitely take off the plaster and put soundcoat up, and the plan is to overboard the ceiling. Now I have yet more decisions to make... dot & dab 1 or two layers standard board, acoustic board, triline boards, gypliner (stud attached to wall), separate wall... Still think I'll probably go for the separate wall, would rather over- than under-engineer on this even if it does mean losing more room...
