South East Water as well.

Remember national assets in public ownership?

Water companies were privatised 34 years ago. I'm not sure Larry the cat was alive then and Rishi Sunak was just 10 years old.

But lets blame him anyway.

Utilities have been privates across the EU and the world, must be the conservative governments fault.

Yes because of the way they sold them off and the regulation.

Tory going to Tory.

People need to keep paying their water bills, there are a lot of foreigners depending on them.

It's not all down to the Water Companies after all...
Filthy Farmers@the Granudia
A loophole in the UK’s pollution legislation allows farmers to pollute rivers by spreading excess manure, an investigation has found, with those acting unlawfully not facing any action in most cases.

The government introduced new farming rules for water in 2018, aimed at cleaning up England’s waterways. However, after lobbying from the National Farmers’ Union (NFU), including at least two meetings with ministers, the guidance was watered down.

According to internal guidance revealed by the investigations website openDemocracy, polluting farmers may not even be informed of their rule-breaking.

Some farm businesses pollute waterways by spreading excess animal waste on their land. When it rains, this runs off into local rivers, causing nutrient pollution and in severe cases, ecosystem collapse. Natural England recently downgraded the status of the River Wye, a designated special area of conservation, due to a decline of key species. The decline is due partly to large quantities of manure being washed into the river from nearby farms.

Still fancy a dip to cool off this summer?

But very largely.
Well, yeah. But when Adam Henson and his Countryfile chums wang on about their organic farming it's worth bearing in mind the effect it can have when undertaken too enthusiastically.
It should be no surprise to learn Liz Truss was very keen to accommodate the NFU and cut as much legislation/red tape as she could.

Are you against Unions @JohnD? There is hope yet.

There are some 130 unions in the UK, my guess is more of them are Labour supporters than Tory. Big Business lots of Labour Supporters line the roadside with posters.

"South East Water losses double on weather and higher costs

Donato Paolo Mancini in London

South East Water said its year-on-year after-tax losses doubled on bad weather and higher costs, adding to concerns over the health of the UK water companies sector.

“Our financial performance has . . . been impacted by . . . exceptional weather related events . . . and by other pressures on our cost base, including significant increases in the cost of power, chemicals and other energy intensive products,” the company said as it posted a £55mn loss for the year, compared with a loss of £29mn in the previous period.

The company, which supplies 2.2mn consumers, paid more in dividends and interest payments over two years than it put into its own infrastructure, the FT has reported."

The NFU is a trade organisation representing business owners.
They declined to advise their members which way to vote on brexhit, doubtless afraid of the political repercussions of saying vote remain
