Spain and the potential EU crisis

I'm pretty sure the referendum was about the UK remaining in the EU. Playing that game suggests London and the SE should be independent. Given the wealth demographic of the SE, I can see the Catalonia angle.

Oh, I don't know about that.....

Germany drives the direction of Europe.
According to the Beeb, the AfD are influencing the Christian Democrats' direction.

Germany has no influence of Scots citizens' desire to remain in the EU.

Funnily enough, nutters and crooks like Farage and Buffoon Boris do.

Why are we leaving then, if we're happy with Europe?
Although your question is a bit tautological, i.e. ask a question based on an imaginary statement.

We are leaving because the gullible believed Farage and his invasion by immigrants, or BJ and his £350M, or Gove and his dismissal of experts.

Why are we leaving then, we're happy with Europe?

Not everybody is.

About a quarter of the population voted to remain, about a quarter voted to leave, about a quarter didn't vote, and about a quarter couldn't vote.

Some people like to pretend this is an overwhelming or clear result. It isn't. That's why the government is a Coalition of Chaos, and even the Quitters can't agree what they want. Nobody can pretend that the voters knew what they were voting for when it still isn't decided.

The reason we're leaving is that we have a vociferous minority of anti-Europeans, and some populists who think they benefit from feeding the prejudice with false stories. Sadly we have a few politicians who are more interested in furthering their careers than the good of the country.

As Ken Clarke said the other day, Buffoon throwing in a made-up and dishonest story "one of the more simplistic and dishonest arguments of the hardline Leavers" about giving money to foreigners is the sort of thing that can pick up some support.

....which completely supports my original point - a vociferous minority can effect significant influence.
And in the case of Brexit, has done.
