Spiders on decking

I recently installed a small decking platform in front of my garden office. I had a plan to install a decking area in the garden soon, but I have noticed a fair few spiders on the platform during sunny day.

I'm concerned that if the decking area ended up with similar spiders, then kids wouldn't want to be using the decking. Is it common for spiders to be roaming around on decking?

Any ideas on getting rid of them and keeping them away.

you have a spider in your garden that just happens to be noticeable on your decking ??
now the spider would still be there iff it was grass /slabs what ever
in other words just carry on with your life and iff the kids don't like spiders then live with the odd scream or upset until the spiders find an elevated position to build its web as they tend to keep out off site around a web

I wouldn't have thought anything about it, if it was just one spider. I'm talking about at least 10 together. When I step onto the deck, they quickly hide and then they back straightaway.

Perfectly normal and that is what spiders do in their natural habitat. They use the decking as a sun spot and to socialise, mate, feed, fight etc....I have them in my garden, exactly the same and they vanish very quickly when you go near them. There are spider repellants on the market but you will spend more time and effort than it's worth as they will return in no time. They are far too small to bite anyone and the kids will soon get used to them disappearing when approached.

It's probably easier to train children than spiders.

Yes, I have heard about Decking Spiders. Highly dangerous things and have a bite which could be fatal...
to a fly.

Be careful, if you don't nip it in the bud quickly he'll have all his mates round drinking and partying until all hours.

It's a slippery slope.

You could try and get a court injunction
