Of course they are animals, but they are not insects, they are arachnid's. I totally fail to see why in the UK anyone is afraid of them, they are totally harmless, and in fact eat lots of insects, and dead skin cells, they are also very clean animals, yes of course they are very afraid of you, wouldn't you be afraid of an animal that was thousands of times bigger than you? I've heard the they must be alien cobblers as well, but frankly if you're afraid of 'em, you just a big girls blouse
