Splitting a Consumer Unit

Quote: I doubt you'd need a switch fuse for the shop supply?

Yes, otherwise to isolate the shop CU would mean turning off the supply to the flat. This may not be a regular event, but could be a considerable problem to both parties.

Just for the fun of it, I have managed to put together a photo and annotations to show what is in the shop at the moment...

The fusebox has 8 fuses:
2 for the shop lights
1 for the flats lights (all of them)
1 for the shop sockets (all of them!!!!)
1 for the flats sockets (all of them!!!)
1 for floodlights at the front of the shop
1 for a light in the garage.
1 unknown - nothing went off when I pulled it, but there are wires connected inside!

Incidentally, between 2 & 3 on the image is a small white round junction box (the image was joined here so it does not look round), which has three separate rings coming in, and one cable to the fusebox (so 7x 2.5mm2 cables in one small junction box)

Needless to say, it needs sorting ASAP, so my question about moving the flat CU upstairs was a small part of the work required.
