Splitting Sky Satelite Signal

Hi everyone,
hoping someone with satelite tv installation experience can guide/give me some advice on the below please.

Currently i have cancelled my sky contact and i have replaced sky Q box with Freesat box using the sky satelite dish. this is working fine with no issues.

My Plan-
i have 2 cables from the sky satelite dish in lounge, which allows me to record up to 4 programmes at same time on freesat box. My plan is to buy one of the splitters below( see picture please) in order to extend the satelite signal into my conservatory and buy another freesat box to use there.

Question 1- will this work to start with ?
Question 2- Note, i currently have 2 cables into the freesat box, enabling 4 recordings at same time.
Can i take one of the 2 satelite cables into the 2 way splitter below (see picture please), with one output going back into freesat box to continue with 4 recordings and then other output on a 5m cable to the conservatory to connect to another freesat to view tv in the conservatory?

Am hoping to avoid a new quad LNB and running a new cable all the way to the new freesat box in conservatory unless its the only way to do it correctly?

please let me know your thoughts and or advice.

If you want more boxes you need a quad lnb. A splitter won’t work.

Wrong.

$ky Q LNB is wideband.
One cable has all the H frequencies the other all the V.

The splitter pictured (two will be needed one for H the other for V) will do the job required. It is directional power pass both ports so either receiver will work it.
Freesat 4k boxes need both polarisation cables to work properly and only freesat 4k and $ky boxes support wideband LNBs.

However the splitter introduces losses between 4 and 6 dB depending on the frequency. It may need a bigger Zone 2 dish and cables swapped for WF100 if the existing WF65 (or equivalent) loses too much.

There are other solutions but the passive splitter may well work OK.

thanks Rodders53. i will try this and see if it works. i dont think this causes any damage at all to equipment or cables so not much to lose. as you say, the kit isnt expensive anyway so most i lose is it doesnt work and i revert to my original set up with the one freesat box. thank you

IF it doesn't work (NB you can test with just the splitters and one freesat 4k box connected initially) then there are other, much more expensive, ways to do it.

{Note ideally the unused ports should have a 75 ohm 'termination' that a receiver box tuner presents. Most likely effect of not is a poorer signal level. See https://www.aerialsandtv.com/knowledge/splitters-amps-and-diplexers#amplifier-terminators }

Expensive solution example https://www.satshop.uk/product/inverto-4-way-skyq-dscr-switch-quattro-w-b/ will accept the wideband LNB input and output dSCR for the 4 tuners in the freesat 4k boxes over one cable. Additionally it will support older legacy satellite tuners.

yes i have tested today and it works following your advice . i bought 2 splitters as you advised. connected both the freesat and yet to be returned sky Q box.
worked nicely. see pictures below.

signal quality 90% and strength appx 50% on sky box. freesat signal strength about 60% and quality seems 100%.

left both boxes on for about 30min and no pixilation or cut outs/freezing or anything. am well chuffed with it. seems to work very well. hopefully no surprises to come LOL.

Question- with both freesat and sky Q boxes sending power to the satelite dish via the 2 splitters, hopefully not an issue?
