Got a splinter on Friday but could not get it out. It went in near vertical. I tried tweezers, razor blades, needles etc. No joy.

Noticed a bit of gunk around it after showering so I gave it a squeeze.....

Should have gone to hospital with that Noseall. (but not North Staffs Hospital) If it turns septic , it'll hurt like hell. ;) ;)

Not nearly as much as me hacking away at it with razorblades and tweezers.

Tried like hell to access the little blighter but blood kept welling around the wound and obscuring the offender. In the end I just let nature do it for me.

Bliss. :D

So you rubbed it in the shower and noticed a bit of gunk?

Don't worry mate, we've all done it.

Is that a splinter in your hand or are you just pleased to see us?

Its the bricklaying (cement) that causes the problems.

Many blokes mistakenly believe that if their hands are calloused, dry and rough, that their skin is toughned up. Wrong. Keeping the skin moisturised means they will stand up to the rigours of the trade far better.

Cracked dry skin is weak skin.

I don't very often wear gloves though. That's how I got the timber in me hand.
Sliding roof tiles onto laths. My fingers are peppered.
