Squeeze me

Its the bricklaying (cement) that causes the problems.

Many blokes mistakenly believe that if their hands are calloused, dry and rough, that their skin is toughned up. Wrong. Keeping the skin moisturised means they will stand up to the rigours of the trade far better.

Cracked dry skin is weak skin.

Well said. If you don't look after the bits that earn your money, you're daft, not "hard".

Got a splinter on Friday but could not get it out. It went in near vertical. I tried tweezers, razor blades, needles etc. No joy.

Why couldn't you get it out with tweezers? There's quite a length exposed. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get it out with a pair of pliers.

Ahh JBR, you didn't see the bit sticking out of the other side.

Well, if it was sticking out of the other side, he could easily have hammered it through.

Lols, if only!

When I acquired the splinter it snapped off several millimetres under my skin. I tried to gouge it out with a sharp screw and tried pinchers. No good.

When I got home, I cut deeper into the wound with a razor blade to try and expose more of the splinter. However, each time I tried forcing the tweezers in, all I got was pooling of blood obscuring the hole I'd cut.

And I was working left handed. Oh' and it was a wee bit painful too. I didn't know whether I was pulling on the splinter or tissue. I'm sure the very tips of the tweezers caught the splinter a couple of times but all I got out was a few fibres. Each time I forced the tweezers in the tweezers ends were closing down too.

Never had so much fun on a Friday night.
