Stairlift cable

Might be a good idea to verify with the manufacturer that the stair lift is safe to operate without an effective Earth

Also inform the manufacturer about this installation of a reconditioned stair lift

They are double-insulated. The mains goes to a small charger, then 24v to the lift, to charge the batteries in the seat base.

It’s battery operated. The cable is supplying the low voltage transformer.

It could still need an Earth depending on how the transformer is constructed.
Failed insulation in the windingd can create a short-crcuit between the LV (230 Volt) and ELV (<50 Volt).
A Dual bobbin is the safest format.

Are we now thinking that that is not the original cable (no earth) in the picture?

To further discredit what the company has said, it even looks like it could be the original plug (plastic earth pin) as well - so they must have cut the cable.


I don't supposed the cable was routed through a small hole somewhere, was it?
