Stepped on tape measure, tape broken in two

Yeah - make it so the overlaps are 1/2" each - then go along the tape with a permanent marker changing the numbers to take an inch off :)

dont be ridiculous.... have you seen the price of permanent markers?!

Just take your measurement and subtract an inch :D

I don't know if they are still available but I have a repair kit used for 100ft/30metre steel tapes as used on sites for setting out. It has several punched strips and a riveting tool. I would not imagine that the repair strips would be flexible enough for short tapes but what the hell, do as all the other posts suggest and buy a new one.

Best way I can think of to repair it is to get your missus to sew the inside of your pockets right across about half way down.
Thus making them less deep. . . :)

Does anyone know of a reliable method of repairing a tape measure (Stanley 3m/10ft) where the tape was stepped on and the tape has broken in two?

John, you're a fellow Yorkshireman, aren't you? I can always tell.

Or I suppose you could be a Scot.

Talking of which, do you know who invented copper wire?

It was a joint venture. A Yorkshireman and a Scot arguing over a penny.
