Because quite obviously the best way to get across the point of being against violence in the world is to start some violence as part of the protests.

That makes perfect sense..........

..............doesn't it?????

In saying that you are assuming that the police actually allow valid protests, or indeed don't discriminate between sides.. ;)

Why didn't they get a cheap Ryanair ticket to some other Muslim country [who may give a damn] to demonstrate their solidarity with their bro's?

They could all meet, burn the customary US and UK flags, grab a quick kebab, and be home in time for prayer

At £28.50 each way, what price is solidarity?

would this be the same people who always wanna have a pop at a doorman/bouncer?

hecklers?

hired trouble?

give anyone the opportunity to fulfill Andy Warhol's prophecy and it is likely they will.

It's interesting, but there is a lot to do with the 'mob mentality' where seemingly peaceful people can get involved in violence purely instinctively.

IIRC, they develop a sort of bond with others in the group and are obliged to join, help or defend them. Another factor is that when emotions run high, pent up feelings and frustrations are released

It all depends on the subject matter of the protests. Similar people, in different protests will exhibit different behaviour

Just 'coz the police are mob handed they should behave, and not start a free for all.

The protests against the so called war with Iraq, was as far as I remember, peacful.
And look what happened, over 60% of the country was against the invasion, yet traitor Blair went ahead anyway.
Possibly this time the protesters want to be taken serious.
