Stop and Search powers to be made permanent

Different way of doing it, but morally wise the same thing in my book
Is that the same thing morally wise as when you suggested to someone that they should get a family member to pay them a penny a day to get round the coronavirus travel ban so they could 'pretend' to be a 'worker' who was allowed to travel?

Maybe you could remind us of that post and a link to it?

Sure. Here you go.
Edit: Oh, I see you’ve just edited your post - you don’t want a link now?
Edit 2: Oh, now you DO. Make your mind up!

"To help contain the virus, everyone who can work effectively from home should do so.

Where people cannot do so - including, but not limited to, people who work in critical national infrastructure, construction, or manufacturing - they should continue to travel to their workplace. This is essential to keeping the country operating and supporting sectors and employers."

Get her to pay you 1p a day ;)

"The plan is a rehash of old and existing ideas, such as more hi-vis clothing for community service offenders, electronic tagging on prison leavers and the relaxation of restrictions on stop-and-search powers, and very little else. It will not work because it has not been designed to work. It has been designed to be noticed."
And it wasnt discussed with the police.

Chief constables have been describing it as "weird and gimmicky", and "an explosion in a strategy factory", and saying it will waste officers time.

People who do rehabilitation say that "hi-vis shaming" is counter-productive.

Rank and file police officers have dismissed the whole thing as a gimmick.

But then what do any of these people know, eh? Far better to listen to what ignorant right-wing nasties want.

People who know say there is no evidence that S&S is effective (still no evidence from anyone here, just repeated evidence-free claims).

But that of course doesnt doesnt matter to RWRs who just want more black people to be harrassed because they dont like black people.

if we don't where we came from, how can we know where which direction we are going? There is a lot to be gained from our past mistakes.
Except in the field of crime & punishment of course - there we must just keep doubling and redoubling down on our past mistakes until they start to work.

Draconian stop and search powers are to be made permanent under Boris Johnson’s latest crime crackdown.

So-called “Section 60” powers, which allow police to search in an area without having reasonable grounds for suspicion against an individual, will be made easier as part of the “Beating Crime” plan unveiled on Tuesday.

Before the RWR cheer this on. This extra power will only be abused.

Perhaps an unintended consequence will be more claims and complaints against the police - thus clogging up the courts and raising costs of policing.

As long as whites are stopped as much as blacks and asians im all for it.

But we all know these new stop and search powers will overwhelmingly, disproportionately be used against blacks and asians.

Well if blacks and Asians commit more of the crime, then that would seem to be perfectly fair. Why would you or they use the powers on an less likely customer?

The overwhelming majority of crimes are committed by white males. Thats just a fact.

Obviously they’re the majority, but if you base it on percentages its another story.

Obviously they’re the majority

so if you arrest ten thousand random white, middle-aged men, and search their homes, computers, offices and bank accounts, you'd have the best chance of findings some tax evaders, embezzlers, mortgage fraudsters, violent thugs, bank robbers and fake passport users.

When shall we start?

Any time you like. If it was me, I’d start first with those that hide behind a cloak of anonymity on Internet forums and keep changing locations. They must have something to hide.

Is that what stop and search entails ?

no, but why shouldn't we catch some of the people who do the highest value crimes?

or are you soft on them?
