Strange oily film/smell in toilet bowl

Newly refurbed place with new toilets etc. In one toilet I have an odd film some days. THe toilet is clean and has been flushed the day or morning before it appears. There is a mild uriney smell sometimes too.

Any ideas? The plumber just fitted a Durgo valve and it seems to have improved the smell but I was surprised to see the oily film still there this afternoon.

Hi

Did your plumber use a lubricant like fairy liquid to help fit the joints together? This may leave a oily film for a day or two.

There may be something in the cistern as well, can you lift the top off and see if there is a film on the water inside, it could be something that was used to seal the fittings in there and should clear after a while.
