I have discovered two cables that run up the inside of a cupboard in my flat. They have written on them......

ABPWHT75 AQUA B PEX MM BS8291 G 20/05/99 (5)

I had thought these were elextricity cables but now think that they are something to do with plumbing. The strange thing is that I can see the ends of the tubes underneath my floorboards and they appear to not be attached to anything.

Can anyone suggest what they might be for. Is it possible that they are there to in some way vent my central heating system? I have a combination boiler but know nothing much more than that about my system.

Any help/ suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks

They certainly appear to be pipes, but if you can see both ends of each pipe, and they're open (not plugged) then they may just be a pair of redundant pipes.

If they look difficult to remove then that's probably why they were left there in the first place

There are two pipes adn I can only see the ends of these two which are at the top of the flat. Can't see what is on the other ends which go into the floor of by downstairs living room.

Is there ever a situation where if one end is unattached the other end might still be attached to something important?

Try blowing down one, if you can it has an open end. Could be an abandoned attempt at U/F heating though? Phone the last occupier/ owner if you can, see if they can shed some light on it.

I am a bit concerned about blowing down the pipes as if they are connected am I not going to end up with a mouthful of something horrible?

I have drawn a diagram of the set up in the room. The blue pipes on the right are not connected to anything at the top, however I am unable to see if they are connected to anything at the bottom. Is it relaly possible that they could be connected to the central heating system.

The radiators work perfectly well at the moment. If they were connected in some way to these pipes wouldn't water be pouring out everywhere and my pressure be affected.
