Yes, they are OK - sometimes you think they'll never stretch so far though!
I don't know what the C5 uses but maybe the CV detaches from the driveshaft end, easy enough......much simpler that way.
Do get the kosher boot clips though - if you don't have the correct pliers, a pair of pincers will do.
