String around plumbing joint (Ed.)

I had a boiler fitted but noticed this string attached around one of the pipes. I pulled a bit off.
What is it for and do l need to call out the engineer again?

It is a way of sealing certain joints. It helps seal the thread. Was your installer quite old? Nothing wrong with it.

I think your picture shows the drain cock on the labrynth filter of a Spirotech.

Stand back and take a wider pic to confirm it.

Anything to do with water, gas and electrics does my head in. The last thing l want is the potential for anything to blow up
