I had a leaf-blower but mice nibbled the bag and it blew its chewed up leaves all over my feet. I got a 'universal' collection bag from eBay and it fits, but now the stupid thing won't suck anything up. It'll only suck if I open the bottom of the bag and then I get chewed up leaves all over my feet again.

What am I doing wrong? Or is it just time to ditch it? I got it from Freecycle so it's not like I have spent money on it but I don't want to chuck it away if there is a way of sorting it. Thank you.

Bag needs to be a loose weave fabric to allow air flow thru .
Might’ve been better to repair the damaged bag, even if it meant reducing the volume.
Link to bag you bought ,?(thought they were all brand/model specific )

Ah, thanks that makes sense. The original bag was chewed all round the edges, and I tried sticking it to the funnel thing with carpet tape but that didn't work.

It was this one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225145548111?var=524052812531

I guess I could just stick loads of holes in it.

Product looks strange , waterproof would suggest it’s not very porous which would not be what you want in a vacuum bag.
Also mentions good dust collection, again not what you would expect from a fine net material .

Well this helps, as I know what to look for now. It certainly isn't fine net material. Thank you, I will try to source an alternative!

ETA Looking at eBay all the bags seem to be made of plasticky stuff. I may just take this to the tip or put it on Freecycle. It's very poor that they don't offer replacement bags though.
