i am replacing my old mechanical thermostat for the above didital type. the old one has four wires, red yellow blue and earth. as i understand that i only need two wires for the new one i have used the yellow and red, but it will not trigger the boiler. can anyone help pls?

What wires went on which termianals on the old stat (you did make a note, didn't you?)

What happens if you join the red and yellow together in a terminal block (thus bypassing the stat). Does the boiler fire up? (I assume that you have got the programmer turned to CH on all the time?)
