Hi all,

We've an electric radiator in our new bathroom, the elements rated at 500w.

Am I right in thinking that'll pull less than 3a so I can feed an fcu from the nearby light circuit with 1.5mm t+e?

The fcu will be mounted outside the bathroom with the cable coming through the wall so if I arrange the cable with a drip loop at the bottom there shouldn't be any zone issues?

Thanks
Chris

Buy a flex outlet plate where the cable exits the bottom; not a hole in the middle.

Allowed in zone 2 if no switch.

No need for an outlet plate, the walls are clad in white upvc panels so I've just made a small hole and used a suitable size grommet to feed the cable into the stud wall where the fcu will be mounted on the other side.

Lighting circuit is not the best candidate. A socket circuit would be favourite.
One big thing: is this lighting circuit protected by a 30mA RCD? It must be, if you are bringing 230v into a bathroom.

All circuits are covered by rcd's.

No there isn't an easily accessible socket to pick up from whereas the lighting circuit runs directly above the stud wall in question.

I plan to put a dymo label in the back box stating the supply is taken off the lighting circuit not that I can forsee a situation where anyone would ever think of using the fcu for anything else given it's location.
