It is. You can then locate the PIR where it will actually work properly, which is almost always NOT where the light is.
Thanks, I understand that. I want the whole lot to be where it is now, because moving it would mean running a cable past the window in the left of the picture and, it goes all the way to the eaves so a cable would be unsightly.
Something (new P.I.R.) will need to go over the hole to hide it and the above it, between the P.I.R. and the eaves. The door is on the right so, there's only the width of the pillar to mount both.

why not just replace whats there with something similiar but with pir built in


dont forget that a "bright" light shining straight at you actually makes it harder to see where you are going whereas a gentle light is usually adequate. I have a seperate PIR that brings on globe lanterns with 5W led bulbs on the front of the house and that is more than adequate
