Some shops that I go in (WH Smith and BP, for example), when I put my card in the Chip & Pin machine, aske me to select whether I have a Switch Card or a Maestro card.

Now I thought Maestro was the new name for Switch, bringing us into line with Europe and all that (like Snickers or Starburst) and my card features both logos, so which is it - Maestro, or Switch, and does it matter which I press (I've always gone for Switch so far).

Switch, Maestro - Maestro, Switch ??

I know of one shop near me that asks me to select switch or maestro. thankfully its a shoe shop so i only go in every 6 months or so!

I dont think it matters which you select. Their software is obviously lacking intelligence to select which name to print on the reciept, so it asks the customer to select. They use the same verification process etc, so dont worry! I select maestro ;)

My Visa doesn't ask if I want to Switch to Maestro
I had to sign a bit of paper at the petrol station today, nearly couldn't remember my name or how to sign it
If you must have a Maestro at least make it a red Mg Maestro

My Maestro card has a map of the world on (HSBC - worlds local bank etc), so i will never get lost!!!!

What :!: a holographic Bulging Biceped Blacksmith :?:

Booked some flights with easyjey last night. An additional £1 using Maestro or Switch, extra £4.95 using a credit card, but NO extra charge using Visa Electron. Does anyone know why the Electron doesn't have any extra costs, when a Maestr or Switch payment is taken directly from my account - so no credit card transaction???????

No! The very rare (and even rarer non-thrashed variety) Turbo.

Not bad performane for a Grandad-mobile!!

I'm not knocking them. I have owned loads of BL/Austin Rover cars, but the Maestro Turbo was the best I've driven.

Maestro, switch has gone now.
no. On the store copies of the PDQ reciepts at our shop, it still says "Switch" on some of them. And some of the cards have funny names, heres a few

Woolwich Visa
UK maestro
maestro
switch
Visa credit
visa
connect debit
capital one mastercard
electron
visa electron
mastercard
solo
plus many, many more!

I dont know why it prints the name of the company on some of them, where it would normally print just the type of card. Its not advertising, the only people who see it are the guys in the cash office! Theres no point.
